Summer Workshops for Adults 2010

The Apprenticeshop will host a series of hands-on workshops available to students age 16 and older.
Traditional Wooden Boatbuilding Workshop (Two Weeks)
Learn the basics of all wood, plank-on-fram construction in this two week, intensive hands-on course. Multiple boat projects will let you try a variety of construction techniques including lofting, framing, and planking (carvel and lapstrake.) A great introduction to the fundamentals of traditional boat building! Some woodworking experience is helpful but not required.
Classes meet Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Class size limited to eight; all classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis.
Session I -- July 5-16
Session II -- July 26-Aug 6
Session III -- Aug 16-27
Fee: $1200.00

Traditional Sailing Workshop (One Week)
A fantasy camp for wooden boat enthusiasts! Spend a week sailing and rowing a variety of traditional wooden craft on Rockland Harbor. Learn the history behind the boats as you handle a gaff-rigged ketch, row a dory or sail a classic racing sloop. Basic sailiing skills are helpful, but not necessary.
Classes meet Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Class size limited to six; all classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis.
Session I -- July 19-23
Session II -- Aug 9-13
Fee: $600.00

Introduction to Woodworking for Women (One Week)
Learn the basics of woodworking and the proper use of hand and power tools in an encouraging environment. No previous experience required; all tools and materials provided.
Classes meet Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Class size limited to eight; all classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis.
